Checking a failed payment
Occasionally, payments might not go through—whether it’s due to insufficient funds, an expired card, or a decline from the customer’s bank. But don’t worry! Zip makes it easy to find out exactly why a payment failed and what you can do next.
How to check why a payment failed
- Go to the Payments page in your Zip dashboard.
- In the Payments list, look for any items marked as Failed. Click on the failed payment to view more details about what went wrong.
- On the payment details page, you’ll see a clear highlight of the failure reason.
- Next to the failure reason, you’ll also find suggested actions you can take to resolve the issue, usually including reaching out to the customer and asking them to retry with different card or payment option.
